Odzyskaj Środowisko

Our strategic partner, the Odzyskaj Środowisko Foundation, was founded in 2011. The legislative objective is to promote environmentalism and the protection of natural heritage, popularize recycling, and raise environmental awareness of the general public in regards to the treatment and disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).
The Foundation’s top objective is to educate on the subject of environmental protection, with a focus on the issue of segregated waste collection of WEEE. The Foundation operates throughout Poland and carries out local, regional, and wider operations.
Recycling e-waste is good not only for humans, but also for… bees. Why? Together with the Odzyskaj Środowisko Foundation, we convert old washing machine drums into beehives and even whole apiaries. They are found in urban areas where bee populations are declining, which causes the ecosystem to be disrupted. Recycled beehives, urban apiaries and flower fields. This is our challenge, which we implement alongside the Odzyskaj Środowisko Foundation with great success
By recycling e-waste, you can aid bees and build unique hives with us. Together we create recyclable apiaries.

Our objective is to promote environmentalism and the protection of natural heritage, popularize recycling, and raise environmental awareness of the general public in regards to the treatment and disposal of used equipment

In addition to providing recyclable raw materials, e-waste also yields parts that can be repurposed in unexpected ways. Red hive roof, oak legs, and a body made of a washing machine drum with a honeycomb pattern! This recycled hive was made by Tomasz Waśkiewicz, who is both a graphic designer and a beekeeper. You can now find these unusual bee homes in a number of Polish cities. The core concept of our urban apiaries is to educate people. We demonstrate the usefulness of recyclable e-waste and teach about honeybees and other pollinators. You may sample honey from recycled hives, dance the bee dance, and get up and personal with these hard-working insects during our environmental workshops. About 5 million very gentle Carniolan honeybees live in urban apiaries that are taken care of by the Odzyskaj Środowisko Foundation.
How do bees feel about living in a city?
They love it! Some benefits of living in an urban area include a greater biodiversity of plant species, warmer air, and a lack of chemical pesticides. Carniolan honeybees are true city slickers!
